Thorntree & Old Well House

Andre Badenhorst, the man behind Thorntree, has been immersed in the Cape wine tradition since his birth. Born on the oldest wine farm in South Africa, Groot Constantia, he was responsible for the planning of two wineries considered to be Constantia's gems, Buitenverwachting and Constantia Uitsig.

Andre firmly believes that South Africa's climate and ideal growing conditions combine to produce the world’s best value for money wines. To reach this endeavour Andre has teamed up with another old Cape family in a joint venture to produce wines that are easy drinking and enjoyable, and most importantly in the present economic climate, affordable. He says that "good wine doesn't have to be expensive to enjoy!"  The grapes come from a farm on the outskirts of Paarl and the cellar is near Stellenbosch. Varietals include Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Shiraz.

OLD WELL HOUSE:
Premium Sauvignon Blanc named after Andre's home goes into the bottles of Old Well House – a historic waterhole for cart horses in the old Cape colony along the Cape Point coast.
