CASTELLO DI MELETO:
The massive Meleto Castle is situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, about 1 km from Gaiole in Chianti. The castle once belonged to the Benedettini Monks of the Coltibuono Abbey and the name “Meleto” in Chianti is mentioned for the first time in 1269 in the precious “Libro degli Estimi” of the Florentine Guelphs as a property of theRainerii de Ricasoli family. Over the centuries the Ricasoli Family has enlarged and improved the structure of the Castle whilst maintaining its fifteenth-century fortifications and imposing cylindrical tower.

Approximately 1,000 hectares of land stretches around the Castello di Meleto. 80 hectares are planted under vine, the majority of which are Sangiovese, destined for the production of Chianti Classico.
