Patriarche Père et Fils was founded in 1780 by Jean-Baptiste Patriarche and has grown dramatically from a small, traditional “Burgundy House” to one of the largest négociants in Burgundy, exporting to over 85 different markets around the world. The last few years have seen a major drive to improve the quality of the AC wines produced by Patriarche. The company boasts one of the most extensive cellars in the Burgundy region with “caves” that extend for several kilometres under the streets of Beaune and which contain thousands of bottles of fine wine from the company’s long and distinguished history.
HOSPICES DE DIJON DOMAINE CHENOVRE ERMITAGE
As in previous years, we are once again able to offer a small selection of wines from the Hospices de Dijon Domaine Chenovre Ermitage. As with its better-known neighbour, the Hospices de Beaune, the wines sold by the Hospices de Dijon create funds for charitable projects in the local community.
2008 WHITE BURGUNDY
2008 white Burgundies deserve their good reputation: they have great fruit and fresh, balancing acidity, and will drink well young or can be kept. Patriarche have invested heavily in 2008 whites and put together a range that is amongst the best flights of wines we have tasted in Beaune. Each of the individual village wines shows real typicity and style, with a floral Chassagne, mealy Meursault and fragrant Puligny; and the premier cru from each of the three main villages is like a concentrated version of the village wine. The star is probably the Meursault Genevrieres which shows amazing concentration and complexity.
We hold UK stock of a limited number of our AOC Burgundy wines. Please contact your sales manager for more information.
