Decanter magazine's May issue featured an in-depth panel tasting of red wines from Portugal's Douro. Having declared the results inconsistent in quality and peppered with too many over-oaked and over-extracted wines we were pleased as port (!) to receive four of their coveted stars for
Quinta de Cottas Reserva 2008 which they described as:
"Brooding, elegant and lifted, spicy, peppery dark fruit bouquet. Ripe, rich and taut with lovely freshness, layers of flavour and a peppery edge. Very stylish, well-integrated red. Has a lifted violet and mineral finish. Very Good."
We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Thank you Decanter!
Tongues have also been wagging in Australia for Logan’s cool climate Apple Tree Flat Chardonnay. Declared
‘Bargain of the week!’ in The Sydney Morning Herald, cited as
‘Fantastic Value’ by Tony Love, one of Australia’s leading wine critics and
‘one of the best wine bargains of the year’ by Winsor Dobbin of The Grape Hunter.
To get your hands on a sample of either of these wines, don’t hesitate to
