The results of the second Champagne Masters by The Drinks Business Magazine are out and we're delighted to announce that Champagne De Castelnau have continued their winning streak with another two medals to add to their bottle necks!

Two down and one to go, it's wine award season! Last week was the turn of the Decanter World Wine Awards and this week it was the International Wine Challenge dinner. Our Logistics Manager Paul was lucky enough to go along to the IWC. Here he makes his online debut and reports back on what he thought of the evening, by the end of which he most definately was seeing red....!

In an increasingly competitive market place, producing great wine is no longer enough to secure the attention and loyalty of the worlds wine drinkers. Being able to visit, taste and often eat at a winery is essential to create lifetime ambassadors of your wine. The New World have been doing this for years and are established and accomplished at it but none more so than Logan in NSW, Australia who have just been crowned winner of Best Cellar Door Experience 2012 from Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine.

Now the dust has settled on the first half of the wine tasting calendar we've had time to reflect on the year so far and the fantastic achievements of some of our wineries. Here are the top award results from the UK based wine competitions.

The results of the first tranche of UK based wine awards have just been released and we're pleased to report a hat trick has been awarded to three of our wines from the on-trade favourite, The Sommelier Wine Awards......

A year after being awarded 5 stars in Decanter’s Vintage Champagne tasting, De Castelnau’s Vintage 2000 hasn’t left the limelight.

Together with a list of accolades longer than the CRVC’s bottling line the wine has again been recognised by Decanter magazine in their December issue this year who have listed it in their ‘Top 50 best value French wines of 2011’.

Following the last instalment of our top achieving wines from our 2011 portfolio (which you can view here), we mustn’t forget the other wines that also won great recognition.

For example the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Chardonnay du Monde challenge judged and graded over 12,252 and 914 wines respectively of which only 187 wines were awarded silver medals. That’s one of the many reasons we so proud of our silver medal winning wines.

We’re delighted to share the pick of the crop from our award winning wines with you. From a total of 142 medals awarded to our portfolio this year we proudly collected one Trophy and 6 Gold medals. 

The trophy went to Champagne De Castelnau Vintage 2000 at the Citadelles du Vin 2011 an award body run in France which represents more than 300 appellations and whose medals are a guarantee of diversity, quality and prestige....

The first of the UK based annual wine awards have released their results and we're delighted to announce which of our wines have won one of the coveted Sommelier Wine Awards this year. 

Now in its fifth year the Sommelier Wine Awards (SWA) is run and published by the team at Imbibe Magazine and is the UK on-trade wine competition aimed specifically at finding the best wines available to the restaurant, gastropub and bar trade.
