Paella, sun, fiestas and siestas … What do you think of when you picture Iberia? Since we revamped our portfolio all we can think about are the wines of Montal in Castile, our new organic winery Quaderna Via from Navarra and Quinta de Cottas from Portugal in the Douro. And as the memories of this summer’s sun, fiesta’s and siestas start to fade we thought we’d shine the spotlight on these Iberian delights to keep you in the holiday mood.

The Montal winery is located in Mainetes, a village situated in Fuentealamo in Albacete, Spain and was only founded in 2009. This hilly area that was once the site of ancient Iberian, Roman and Arabic settlements is now the home of Montal’s vineyards. The winery owns 25 hectares on these hillsides where they employ a mixture of traditional and state of the art technology to achieve the best wines from the fruit of their land. The focus is always to create wines that reflect the terroir, pure varietal flavour and an elegant structure and complexity true of the Tierra do Castilla region. The wines are carefully fermented in French and American barrels producing intensely coloured and rich wines. For details of the full range click here.

Quaderna Via of Navarra, Spain is a family run winery established in 1989. Following their continued concern for biodiversity of the region they became certified organic in 1998. The winery is based in Camino de Santiago where it is sheltered by the Montejurra Mountain. They own 90 hectares of vines, a patchwork of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. Quinta de Cottas
started with the romantic project of Isabel and Pedro Carmo who set their hearts on converting a rundown house in the heart of the Douro valley, Portugal. As their passion for the region developed so did their love of the regions’ wines so they purchased 10 hectares of vines in Alijo, the sub-region of Cima Corgo. They now produce internationally acclaimed wines from their boutique winery that are true to the soils and standards synonymous with wines from the Douro.  Click here to see a full list of the range.
