To prove the point Decanter magazine arranged a panel tasting of Nuits-St-Georges 2009 judged by a handful of UK based Burgundy experts with the results published in the December issue of the magazine which has just been released.
From 120 wines entered, 14 were highly recommended and awarded 4 stars and our Patriarche Père et Fils 1er Cru Aux Bousselot 2009 was one of them! The Decanter panel’s tasting explains why:
“This wine with fragrant fruit, beeswax, dried fruit compote and sweet toffee on the nose. A pretty, classic style with a rich and complex, playfully challenging style offering layers of perfume, spice, pepper and fruit. Very elegant and detailed. Drink: 2012.”
Among the list of recommended wines from the region Decanter also awarded 3 stars to two of our other Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru wines. Patriarche Père et Fils Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2009 was described as being an “intriguing blend of primary fruit, minerals, oak, spice, vanilla and savoury aromas. Accessible, generous and silky with good acidity and a long finish.” Whilst Patriarche Père et Fils Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 2009 was noted as having “Oak, spice, bakewell tart, violet and rose perfume. Big, leafy, acidic style with a big structure. Mirrors the nose and is perked up by additional peppery intensity.”
