Read moreIn the middle of the renowned Côtes de Nuits, lovingly referred to as the “Champs Elysées” of Burgundy, the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards lie on brown limestone soils with varying amounts of clay derived from Jurassic sub-soils. These soils are paradise for Pinot Noir, and with the excellent weather conditions the region experienced in 2009 it was no surprise that the vintage was declared as a great one!
Read moreMost of the countries we import wines from were playing in the Rugby World Cup so we’ve been watching the tournament with interest and enthusiasm from the office. In our “Think Red, Think Rugby” blog post last month we showed you our passion for the sport and as the Cup builds to the finale we can’t wait to see New Zealand and France battle it out on Sunday.

Following the last instalment of our top achieving wines from our 2011 portfolio (which you can view here), we mustn’t forget the other wines that also won great recognition.
For example the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Chardonnay du Monde challenge judged and graded over 12,252 and 914 wines respectively of which only 187 wines were awarded silver medals. That’s one of the many reasons we so proud of our silver medal winning wines.

We’re delighted to share the pick of the crop from our award winning wines with you. From a total of 142 medals awarded to our portfolio this year we proudly collected one Trophy and 6 Gold medals.
The trophy went to Champagne De Castelnau Vintage 2000 at the Citadelles du Vin 2011 an award body run in France which represents more than 300 appellations and whose medals are a guarantee of diversity, quality and prestige....

As the inaugural National Wine Month draws to a close from all accounts the activity has been a huge success and none more so than for Cassandra Fryer from West Yorkshire who is the winner of the competition we ran with The Daily Mail online in conjunction with National Wine Month for a trip for two to Burgundy.
